Root Canal Treatment Bellaire
Removing the Infection, Eliminating the Pain

An infected tooth often produces significant pain. Without appropriate and timely attention, the problem can worsen, resulting in tooth extraction. Our team strives to avoid this by offering root canal treatment in Bellaire. Performed in-house by Dr. Estella, a root canal targets the infected pulp, removes it (and the pain), and allows the tooth to stay in place. We use enhanced diagnostic imaging to prepare and execute a patient’s treatment so the process is comfortable and consistently successful. Call our office if you’re dealing with a bad toothache to find out how we can help.

Do You Need Root Canal Treatment?

The biggest indicator that a tooth might require a root canal is pain, specifically if that pain or sensitivity is obviously getting worse. That means whatever problem someone is dealing with has reached the delicate pulp of the tooth where the nerve resides.
However, sometimes the nerve can die because the damage is too great, which means there is no pain. That’s why many people experience their toothache suddenly disappearing. This isn’t good news, however, because that just means the issue is advancing and has a chance to spread to other areas of the mouth.
In this case, the tooth will often become discolored, appearing notably darker or grayer than the other teeth.
The Root Canal Process

A root canal is recommended when the pulp of a tooth becomes infected or damaged as a result of facial trauma.
Dr. Estella will begin by administering local anesthesia to the patient so they will be unable to feel any pain throughout the procedure. A small opening is created in the crown of the tooth using precise dental instruments. These tools are then used to clean out the canals and pulp chamber, removing the infected pulp.
She will sanitize the inner layers of the tooth before placing a biocompatible solution known as gutta-percha that will take the place of the pulp. After sealing the tooth, a customized dental crown will be applied after a few weeks to ensure greater protection against possible reinfection.
